Recurrence workstream

Identifying Worsening Events

This work-stream is developing methods to identify cancer recurrence and progression by looking at patients’ routinely recorded medical data.

We will follow on from the main project’s task of solving the legal, ethical and technical difficulties associated with safely and securely linking patients’ data. We hope to show what great work can be done when GP and hospital data talk to each other. Take a look below at the benefits of this work-stream’s activities.

Why?

Once we can identify cancer recurrence and progression events, we can start to look for patterns in the data. The more we know about cancer recurrence and progression events:

  • The better we can plan our delivery of care;
  • The better we can inform patients’ expectations;
  • The better our insights into the mechanisms of recurrence and progression.

How?

Our plan is to combine a range of methods to understand patients’ data.
