'Left Behind' has developed as a buzz word to classify places that have expressed political discontent, with the long term stagnation and decline being blamed for this. This work seeks to consider how different geospatial datasets and methodologies may be used to add detail to these existing classifications. Using 'connectivity' as a focus, migration, social media and transport data will be introduced to show some of the highlights of my PhD work so far, and reflect the extent to which they can offer an insight into how you may understand places as 'left behind'.
