This 1.5 day course provides an introduction to QGIS, an open source Geographic Information System software package. You will be introduced to the various components of the software and learn how to work with both vector and raster data layers. You will learn how to run simple geospatial analyses, how to edit existing maps and how to create maps using your own data, which we encourage you to bring with you to the course.
Who teaches the programme?
Rachel Oldroyd is a quantitative geographer based in the Leeds Institute for Data Analytics at the University of Leeds. She teaches GIS at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate level within the School of Geography and has over 8 years’ experience working with GIS. Rachel has a background in Computer Science and Geomatics and her research interests include, spatial data analytics for food safety, applied GIS and web-based mapping.
Is this course for me?
No prior knowledge is assumed for this course other than have basic IT skills.
