Leeds City Council

Date

Working with external partners is a huge part of LIDA and one notable example is our strategic partnership with Leeds City Council. Policy and Intelligence teams from across the Council have been working with LIDA since we launched in July 2015.

The Council intelligence functions have a permanent base at LIDA enabling them to work closely with LIDA staff on specific projects, such as:

  • Developing tools to better understand changes in an individual’s social care needs over time to enable the Council to proactively manage their care, and ensure they stay in their own home for longer;
  • Developing a customer segmentation model for Leeds;
  • Better understanding flooding patterns in Leeds following the 2015 Boxing day floods, and help better manage a similar event in future;
  • Better understanding the differing level of resilience across different Leeds Communities.

It’s important to note the Council’s decision to form a partnership with LIDA was a bold and forward-thinking step. This progressive thinking and the benefits it has delivered to the Council and the citizens of Leeds were recently acknowledged in a recent report by NESTA which highlighted those councils working at ‘the cutting edge of data-driven local government’.

We’re proud that LIDA is making a significant contribution to this extremely important work.
