Spring Spotlight 2025

The LIDA Food Community officially launched on the 22nd January 2025, with ~70 delegates, from the University of Leeds and beyond, enjoying short talks and a networking lunch.

🌱 What is the LIDA Food Community? - it is a community of people coming together around a shared vision "To deliver real world impact from world-leading research and innovation and learning and teaching for data science and artificial intelligence across the food system"
🌱 Why do we need this community? Few things impact personal and planetary health more than food.
Data and digital research is often performed in silo’s, especially for complex systems such as food. By coming together as a community, right across the food system, we can ensure a more holistic approach and drive greater collaborations and positive impacts
🌱What is this community going to do? First we will grow our community and then together we will grow capacity in data science and AI for food, develop technologies and be a home for data. We will be an entry point for external partners wanting to leverage the potential of data and collaborate in a trusted and experienced environment at LIDA.

This community is for everyone - motivated undergraduate students navigating their next education and career moves, company directors presenting challenge areas and seeking new collaborations and data science enthusiasts across academia, policy and industry - and we were delighted to see all these groups represented at our launch event.
