OfS Data Science MSc scholarships for underrepresented groups returns for second year

Date

Applications have opened for 23 scholarships to study on three Data Science-related Masters courses in the 2024-25 academic year. The aim of the scholarship is to increase diversity in data science and AI sector education and workforce.

Students must be from underrepresented groups, with the priorities being women, black students, students registered disabled and students from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Non-STEM students are encouraged to apply should they meet the other necessary criteria.

The Office for Students scholarships are worth £10,000 per student. Students may also be eligible for the Leeds Masters Scholarships, worth £7,000 per student.

Last year saw the first introduction of the scholarships and welcomed 19 students from underrepresented groups joining the three courses.

Paul Baxter, Director of LIDA Education & Training said, “We are delighted to launch this initiative for a second year. It’s been great to see the difference this sort of action makes and I’m really looking forward to building on that this year and continuing our role in growing a diverse and inclusive data science workforce.”

Students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to avoid missing out and can apply for the scholarship before they apply for their masters study.

Applications for OfS scholarships close at 12 noon on Monday 10th June 2024.
