The UK Biobank is a registered charity with the aim of improving the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a variety of serious illnesses including cancer. It was established by the Wellcome Trust, Medical Research Council, Department of Health, Scottish Government and the Northwest Reginal Development Agency, with funding from other organisations including the British Heart Foundation.
All data produced from this study of approximately 500,000 individuals, including genetic, imaging data and biochemistry, are being made available for research. Many projects using this data are already underway. You can read more about UK Biobank at this link.
