Join our free data science careers event featuring speakers from across industry including Visa, Asda and the Alan Turing Institute. They’ll be talking about their data science roles, their projects and career development.

We hope you can join us for this unique opportunity to hear talks from a diverse range of data specialists followed by a Q&A panel and networking.

  • An introduction to Visa - what types of data we have access to and how we use it
  • Some top tips on how to secure a role in the industry
  • Two of our recent graduate joiners who work in our consulting and data worlds will give a talk about their roles and what they do each day.

Abbie Streek - Senior Manager, Early Careers team
Abbie oversees the Rotational Graduate Programme and our Commercial Hiring, as well as managing a team. Prior to Visa she has worked at Marsh McLennan and JP Morgan, in their Early Career hiring teams.

Phi-Long Bui - Associate Consultant, Visa Consulting and Analytics team
Phi graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Business Management from King's College London in 2022. He currently works on projects collaborating with our merchants, issuers and acquirer clients.

Aneta Swianiewicz - Graduate Data Scientist
Before starting her current role, she earned a BA Mathematics and Philosophy from King's College London, and MSc Computer Science from the University of St Andrews. Her professional journey also includes internships in both industry and academia.

Ricky ArnoldRicky Arnold - Head of Talent Acquisition for Europe
Ricky runs the experienced and early career hiring teams. He has recruited and run Talent Acquisition teams for multiple different organisations within the financial services industry.

Alexander Mudd – Data Scientist
I'm 22 years old, from Exeter in the Southwest, and studied Physics at Cardiff University. I've been working at ASDA since October 2023, as a data scientist. I came to working at ASDA through a Data analytics bootcamp I graduated, in the summer, by a company called Digital Futures.

Tom Knuckey – Senior Data Scientist
I studied Mathematics at the University of Leeds. After I graduated, I started at Asda on a 2-year Data Science graduate scheme, where I am now a Senior Data Scientist. I've been at Asda for over 3 years now.

Dr Tom Waddington ​- Senior manager Measurement Science, Measurement Centre of Excellence ​team
7 years of experience working in the grocery retail sector, predominantly supporting the Property and Real Estates business with location intelligence. More recently, Tom has established a new analytical unit within Asda – the Measurement Centre of Excellence. This team are responsible for the measurement of strategic initiatives, ‘test and learn’ experiments and investment activity. ​Prior to joining Asda, Tom completed a PhD at the University of Leeds.

The Alan Turing Institute

The Alan Turing Institute's career talk, delivered by The Brilliant Club, gives undergraduate students an introduction to Data Science and AI roles in government, research, Defence, and Security. Students learn about roles, skills, entry paths, and resources. The talk emphasises the importance of diversity in this sector and offers a Q&A session.

Jane l'Anson - Director of School Partnerships
Jane is Director of Partnerships at The Brilliant Club, a charity that supports disadvantaged pupils to get into university and to succeed in higher education. Before that, Jane was a teacher and senior leader in schools in Leeds and Bradford.
